Peter Jalkotzy is a professional wildlife biologist and certified environmental manager with significant exposure to regulatory and approval processes for industrial development. He has spent the vast majority of his career in consulting while also having sampled government, academia and industry roles. Starting as a field technician to a PhD student working in Wood Buffalo National Park, Peter has had the good fortune of working on projects from Russia to China, from Mongolia to Thailand, across Kenya and Tanzania, and from crossing Colombian or Venezuelan jungles to the Andes between Chile and Argentina. However, primarily, Peter’s work has been focused on projects in his own backyard, namely western and northern Canada.
Peter currently manages the Impact Assessment and Analysis (IAP) team, a group of professionals and technicians, supporting AECOM’s business across many markets and sectors. The recent merger with URS has resulted in a global premier fully integrated infrastructure company boosting almost 10,000 environmental staff out of a global workforce of close to 100,000 people generating almost $20B in annual revenues. A wide variety of projects, and an assortment of roles from manager, to technical advisor, to mentor keep his life exciting and engaging.
