A registered member of the Alberta Architects Association (AAA) and active Member of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (MRAIC), Kate Thompson joined CMLC in January 2013 to lead the Development Department.
Kate brings a great depth of experience in construction and project management, having participated in the delivery of complex building and infrastructure programs including: the delivery of the SUNCOR administration building in Fort McMurray – a $300 Million corporate facility, and the expansion of the Red & Gold Gym at the University of Calgary – a $4 Million building upgrade. Kate was also one of the Project Architects responsible for programming the new $400 million Trades and Technology Complex on the SAIT campus.
Along with being a long standing sessional instructor at the University of Calgary since 2004, Kate is a mother of two and enjoys running along the Bow River. Through her teaching and practicing of Architecture, she continues to highlight the importance of a well-built urban fabric and supports projects which strengthen Calgary’s urban spaces.
