Senior Director, Regulatory, HS&E for Ivanhoe Energy

Jeremy Hrdlicka is the Senior Director, Regulatory, HS&E for Ivanhoe Energy and has over 20 years of experience in the environmental and energy fields.  He is responsible for regulatory approvals, stakeholder consultation and health, safety and environmental performance associated with the development of the Tamarack Integrated Oil Sands Project and related drilling programs.

Jeremy’s current focus for Canada is completing the regulatory process and gaining approval for the Tamarack Project. This includes managing all applications, permitting and approvals required for an integrated SAGD development; ensuring consultation obligations are met; and the successful negotiation for the removal of Statements of Concern from First Nations, industrial and municipal stakeholders.

Additional responsibilities include the development of Ivanhoe’s global HS&E Management System, managing and reporting on HS&E performance, identifying and managing stakeholder and regulatory commitments,  developing environmental monitoring requirements, and assessment of risks and liabilities in potential acquisitions.

Prior to joining Ivanhoe, Jeremy worked in similar roles, for Synenco Energy and Shell Canada, managing stakeholder engagement and Aboriginal consultation for major oil sands developments.   He began his career in the environmental management, environmental remediation and waste management fields including coordinating large remediation projects throughout Canada, identifying and calculating environmental risks and liabilities, and building HSE Management Systems for industrial clients.

He serves on a number of multi-stakeholder committees in the Oil Sands Region and is the past Co-Chair of the Oil Sands Developers Group Aboriginal Affairs Committee.

Jeremy holds a B.A. in Biology & Environmental Conservation from the University of Colorado, Boulder and an MBA with a specialization in Environmental Management & Sustainability from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary.

In his spare time, Jeremy loves to watch his two sons play soccer, hockey and football. He also loves to write, play and perform rock music.
