Claire Beckstead is a Community Environmental Specialist at the City of Calgary. Claire is part of a team responsible for the implementation of Calgary’s Community Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan, and her role is focused on working with internal and external stakeholders (including the public) to catalyze and enable action on climate change mitigation and greenhouse gas reductions in Calgary.
Previously, Claire worked as a Senior Technical and Policy Advisor at the Pembina Institute, working with municipalities and First Nations communities in BC and Alberta on energy and climate change issues. Claire’s projects have touched on a variety of topic areas, including carbon pricing and innovative financing models; green building policy; conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy policy and project implementation; and electric vehicle infrastructure planning and implementation. Claire has experience in corporate and community energy planning, facilitation and stakeholder engagement, research, and award-winning policy design. Claire has a Masters in Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo.
